Cairns Birdwing, the largest butterfly in Aust...

As a kid I use to chase butterflies through the fields on our farm. I even caught a few and put them in jars to take to school to show my teachers and friends. It was a lot of fun and one of those memories that makes me smile.

I am in my 50s now and don’t spend much energy chasing butterflies but I still love to sit and watch them flutter from flower to flower. I want to see more butterflies and varieties.

We have had our home and property for just over 3 years now and have started gardening both flowers and vegetables. This coming season I want more butterflies so I am planning to plant varieties of flowers that attract specific butterflies.

What flowers attract butterflies?

I am still reading up on what flowers to plant to attract specific butterflies but I would love to hear what flowers you have and what butterflies they attract.

Happy gardening friend.
