Made Four Quarts of Stewed Tomatoes
I was surprised to see that we have as much produce as we have so I’m pleased with the way that went.
Even though I had to go and buy tomato plants after mine drowned we did manage to get some tomatoes and hot pepper to grow. The pepper plants did do much better than our tomatoes so we’ll have more hot peppers this winter than we did last winter.
I didn’t bother to blanch and peel them. I like the tomato skin and feel it’s a waste so I just cut my tomatoes in to small chunks. That way the skins are small and easy to eat plus they add so much more flavour to the stewed tomatoes.
I added onions and cayenne peppers to them for the first time. I used the half quart in a lunch with hamburger and my first Chile Grande hot pepper. It was so tasty and the spice level was just right for Jenny to enjoy it.
